Joan Tucker Christensen, a longtime Brush resident, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her apartment at The Conservatory independent living center in Keller, TX on November 4, 2020.

She is the daughter of Leland and Ola Marie Tucker and was born in Kansas City, MO on June 15, 1928.  Her family moved to Marshall, MO in 1943 and she graduated from Marshall High School in 1945 and Missouri Valley College in 1948 Summa Cum Laude.  She moved to Fort Morgan, CO to begin her teaching career.  Joan taught English at Brush High School for 29 years.  She was well known for her drama classes and play productions.  She retired from teaching in 1986.

Shortly after she moved to Colorado she married Arn Christensen on June 4, 1949.  She and Arn lived on a family farm near Brush and were married 63 years.  Joan and Arn enjoyed trips to the mountains, playing bridge and cribbage and boating with friends and family. They were members of the Bunker Hill Golf Club.

Joan was active in the community and belonged to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 15 years.  She was a member of the Chapter T-PEO and Friends of the Library.  She had a passion for reading and was known for rating books she read and sharing them with friends and family.  It has been said that she never knew a stranger and could converse with anyone.  She was a compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a loyal friend to many.

Survivors include her three children; Leslie McAllister (Doug) of Sand Springs, OK, Brent Christensen (Margy) of Grand Junction, CO, and Claudia Haag (Richard) of Trophy Club, TX; her sister, Francee Crain of Kerrville, TX; 6 grandchildren, Lauren McAllister, Ryan McAllister, Adam Haag, Cody Haag, Samantha Christensen-Hood, and Nicholas Christensen and 9 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arn Christensen and her twin sister, Jean Blalock.

A celebration of life will be held in the future.
