Joann Marie Graff, a lifelong Fort Morgan area resident, passed away at her home early Wednesday, December 12, 2012. She was born August 2, 1932, to Virgil & Eva Griffith on the Griffith family homestead near Fort Morgan. On November 13, 1953, Joann married Ted Graff in Fort Collins. There made their home south of Wiggins until Ted was called to service in the United States military. They later returned to Fort Morgan where they raised their seven children. They went into the housing business, renting apartments and eventually trailer houses in Log Lane Village. Joann continued to work as a cook at various restaurants until health issues forced to retire in 1993. Joanne was well known for her cooking and baking skills. She leaves a legacy of love and generosity with grandchildren, great grandchildren and great – great grandchildren. She was affectionately known to all kids as "Grandma Jo". They all loved her and thought of her house as a very special place to escape to. Ted & Joann's favorite past time was to watch their children and grandchildren's sporting events, and attending men and women's softball games. Many players would stop by their pickup and have a visit before or after playing their game. At home, Joann enjoyed watching and listening to the Bill Gaither Family. She has a large collection of gospel tapes they often watched, and then added a little WWF just to keep things exciting. Joann is a child of God, she loved the Lord and looked forward to "going home". Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Ted Graff; 2 sisters, Carol Prevost and Margaret Godo; 1 brother Harold Griffith all of Fort Morgan; 7 children, Virgil (Crystal) Graff, Tim (Debby) Graff, Randy (Betsy) Graff, Robin (Vern) Mastin, Linda (Dean) Metzler, Lori (Rick) Musgrave, Diane (Vaughn) Yearous all of Fort Morgan; 47 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 3 great – great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Janice Meininger, 1 brother, Delbert Griffith, and her parents. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 AM at The Sanctuary in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan on Sunday from 4 – 6 PM.
