Joseph E. Kollruss, 84, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 13, 2018, in Brush, CO. He was born September 5, 1933, in Colorado Springs, CO, to John & Georgia Kollruss.

Joe served in the US Army from 1953 – 1956. Following his honorable discharge he began working as a carpenter. He became a general contract, starting JBJ Builders Corp and continued in this for over 40 years, retiring in 2004.

Joe had a lifelong passion for horses. He enjoyed training and competing with horses. He enjoyed a wide range of activities with his horses including racing, cowboy and English polo, gymkhana, western-airs, etc. As a trainer, he frequently took his horses to races throughout Colorado. He also was an avid reader and read a wide variety of books from authors ranging from Louis Lamour to J K Rowling.

Survivors include his son, Joe, of Brush and 2 grandchildren, John and Cera. He was preceded in death by 3 siblings, and his parents.

A gathering of friends will take place at the Brush Memorial Cemetery where military honors will be presented, on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 11:30 AM.   A reception will follow at the Carroll Community Center in Brush.
