Joe Machetta, 87, longtime Brush area resident & businessman, passed away May 20, 2021.  He was born July 26, 1933 in Agular, CO to James & Olga Machetta.

Following graduation from high school, Joe attended Trinidad Junior College.  In 1958 Joe leased the Emerson Theater in Brush.  He later purchased the theater and renamed it Sands Theater and operated it for some 60 years before donating the facility to the Brush area Chamber of Commerce Foundation.  Joe loved the movie industry and especially enjoying owning & operating the Sands Theater.

At Joe's request, no service will be held.  Inurnment will be in Aguilar, CO at a later date.
