Joe Teague's Obituary
Joe Isaac Teague was born on December 10, 1942 in Stamford, Texas to parents John Isaac and Myrtle Evelyn. He grew up in Anson, Texas with his 5 siblings, JC, Loice, Joice, Jerry, and William
. After receiving an education in his hometown, he worked at the local cotton gin to help provide for his family. He also farmed cotton and ran cattle on his parents' land, as well as leased some of his own. In 1965, he was drafted by the United States military, where he served for 18 months in the Vietnam War, stationed in Thailand. Upon his return home, he married Wilma Lorene Gregory, whom he had known in high school. Just this year, Joe and his bride celebrated 50 years together. During their lives together, they were blessed with two children, Gary Lynn and Joey Vaughn.
During this time, Joe was a cotton and wheat farmer, and he also raised Duroc show hogs that were competitive across the state. The couple resided in Anson until 1978, when they made their new home in Roby. Here, Joe worked for the National Gypsum Company, where he was a dynamite specialist in the quarry. After retiring from his work at the mill, he was a cattle buyer for Teague Diversified, his family's farming and cattle feeding operation in Colorado, in which he bought cattle and grazed them on grass and wheat pasture before sending them north. In 2006, Joe and his wife moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado, to spend time with their beloved grandchildren. He enjoyed always maintaining a large garden, in which he grew tomatoes, cucumbers, and cantaloupe. He still checked cows and remained active at Teague Diversified until early 2016.
Joe passed away on December 27, 2016, at his home in Fort Morgan, surrounded by his loved ones. Joe was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was active in the Free Mason Organization, in which he was a Master Mason through Fisher County Masonic Lodge 703 and a member until he died.
We will remember Joe as a humble and friendly man, one who loved his wife, his children, and his grandchildren more than life itself. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn. He is survived by his 5 siblings, JC (Dorothy), Loice (Carol), Joice (Neal), Jerry, and William (Jauna), his two children, Gary (Laura) and Joey (Elizabeth), and 6 grandchildren, Shelby, Tucker, Charlee Jo, Trenten, Colton, and Corbin.
