John Eric Anderson, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 23, 2016 following a short battle with multiple myeloma.

John was born September 9, 1963 in Oelwein, Iowa, to Eugene and Martha Anderson. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1981, and from the University of Iowa with a teaching degree in 1985. He taught sixth grade at the elementary school in Byers, Colorado for three years. He moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado, where he taught fifth grade at Columbine Elementary until 1997. John was principal at Thompson Primary for two years, then taught fifth and third grade at Beaver Valley Elementary until the present.

John enjoyed watching his children in their many activities, reading, history, and travel. He was an active member of Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan, and served as a lector there for many years.

John is survived by his sons, Aaron and Wesley; his daughter, Amy; his mother, Martha Anderson; brothers, Steve (Michelle) Anderson and Jim Anderson; and nephews, Colin and Jarrett Anderson. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Anderson; and his grandmother, Lena Mathis.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 3rd from 4 – 6 PM followed by a Rosary Vigil at 6:00PM, both at the Heer Mortuary Chapel, 225 E. Platte Ave. in Fort Morgan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 4th at 10:00 AM at Saint Helena's Catholic Church, 917 W. Seventh Ave. in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will take place in Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan on Tuesday, June 7th at 10:00 AM.
