John Friehauf, 99, longtime area resident, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Eben-Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. He was born June 21, 1912 in Brush to William and Anna Elizabeth (George) Friehauf. John spent all but two or three years of his life living in Brush. John was married three times during his life. The first woman he married was Ruth Reister, she died in 1951. He then married Lorraine Albreight, who died in 1982. His third wife, who preceded him in death, was Mary Margaret Graham who died in 2002. For John, farming was his life. He was also a good story-teller with most of his stories revolving around farming. Survivors include one son, William J. Friehauf, and his wife Lois of Ft. Collins; two daughters, Betty Jo Sewell of Yuma and Rebecca "Bekki" Axtell and her husband, Don of Sterling; a brother, Wilbert Friehauf; six grandchildren, Mike Friehauf, Diane Bristol, Dean, Brian & Kevin Sewell and Jeff Axtell; eight great grandchildren, Matt & Nicole Friehauf, Ethan Bristol and Lyssa, Kolton, Chyann, Brianna and Blake Sewell; and two great-great grandchildren, Kaiden & Xander Friehauf. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Paul; a daughter, Marguerite Anesko; three wives, a son-in-law, Howard Sewell, two great grandsons, Corey Edward Sewell & Timothy Friehauf; four brothers, Carl, William, Edwin & Herbert; and three sisters, Margaret Jacoby, Marie Lebsack & Elizabeth Meininger. A funeral service will be Monday, June 11, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Brush Memorial Cemetery Gazebo. Visitation will be Sunday, June 10th from 2 – 4 at the Heer Mortuary in Brush.
