Obituary

John Dee Gordon (JD), 91, of Fort Morgan, Co passed away October 1, 2021.  John was born July 1, 1930, in Richards, Colorado in southeast Colorado to Allard & Mattie (Beeler) Gordon.  John was the baby of his family joining siblings, Eugene; Geraldine; Kenneth; Glen; and Mildred.

John grew up and attended school in the Walsh, Colorado.  He married his high school sweetheart Norma Sipes on November 7, 1948 in a double wedding ceremony with their lifelong friends Beryl & Colma Rae Tate in Clayton, NM.  John and Norma were married 72 years.

John worked as a master electrician his whole adult life starting with REA as a lineman in the Pueblo, Co and San Isabel, Co area.  He continued his electrician career in Colorado Springs for many years before returning to his home roots in Walsh to start his own electrician business and do some farming on the side on the family farm. John later became an electrical inspector for the State of Colorado until his retirement. In later years John & Norma sold the farm ground and moved to Fort Morgan to be closer to family.  John was an avid family man and spent his retirement years involved and very active in his kids and grandkids lives.  John will be fondly remembered for coffee and porch time chats. All who knew him always enjoyed seeing him sitting on his porch and stopping for a daily chat. Grandad John especially loved visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Always wanting them to sit on his lap, giving them a treat, and telling them a silly story.

John is survived by his children, Shari Clayton (Raymond) of Cheyenne Wells, Co; Danny Gordon (Dee) of Colorado Springs, Co; Shelley Harper (Andy) of Fort Morgan, CO and Pam Schmeeckle of Fort Morgan, Co; nine grandchildren, Mark Clayton; Jason Harper; Jonna Young; Meaghan Schiller; Chris Harper; Lindsey Krentz; Kristin Simpson; Kylie Schmeeckle; and Jaye (JD) Gordon; twenty-two great grandchildren; and many longtime friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; his wife of 72 years Norma Gordon; his son David Gordon; his grandson Jeffery Steury; and son-in-law Zane Schmeeckle.

John has requested no funeral service.  A graveside service is planned for a later date in Walsh, Co.
