John R. Hinds, 83, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015, at the East Morgan County Hospital. He was born May, 1932, in Prague, OK, to George A. & Grace Hinds. John married Betty Jo Henry on September 10, 1953, in Raton, NM. The Hinds family lived in Kimball, NE where John worked in the oil fields and later ran a gas station for several years. In 1970 they moved to Brush to help Betty Jo's father, Palmer Henry, operate the farm and cattle operation. John attended the Brush Church of Christ. He loved to fish. He looked forward to his biannual fishing trip to Oklahoma for many years. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include his two daughters, Tanya (Glen) Harned and Johnette Vondy all of Brush; his five grandchildren, Kendra (T J) Ivie, Amber (Rodney) Musgrave, Kamera (Shannon Trump) Palser, Dayna Harned, and Kolby (Jennifer) Vondy; 9 great grandchildren and 2 brothers, Herman Hinds and Tommy Hinds both of Paden, OK. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo, 1 brother, 1 sister and his parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday 10:30 AM at Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Brush on Tuesday from 5 - 7 PM.
