Obituary

John Homeburg, 86, long time Brush resident, died Thursday afternoon at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. He was born January 11, 1923 in McCook, NE, to Conrad and Katherine Homburg. He married Mary Dunn January 1, 1943 in Fort Morgan. They made their home in Brush where John worked for the McLagan Creamery until the company closed in 1969. He then began working for the City of Brush and retired from the city in 1990. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and especially spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Leis and Peggy Baker both of Brush, and Lea Ann Homeburg of Fort Lupton, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, one son John Robert Homeburg, one sister; Elizabeth Hosier, four brothers; Conrad Hamburg, Herman Hamburg, Adam Hamburg, and Fred Homeburg and his parents A visitation will be held on Sunday 2-5 pm and a funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 am, both at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or to the Parkinson's Association in care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 222 Cameron Street, Brush, CO 80723.
