John D. Louis Whetzel 80, an area resident since 1959 died Wednesday at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Ft. Morgan. Whetzel was born September 19, 1926 in Bristow, OK to William and Alma (Burke) Whetzel. He enjoyed woodworking and painting. Survivors include one son, John Martin of Ft. Morgan, two daughters, Janice Weimer and Eva Graham both of Ft. Morgan, two sisters, Lucille Frazier of Davenport, Iowa and Ruby Todd of Houston, Texas and two grandchildren. At Whetzel's request, he will be cremated and there will be no funeral services. Memorial Gifts may be made in Whetzel's name in care of the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan.
