On June 14, 2014, John David Maldonado, died from injuries he sustained in a car accident. John David loved the mountains, fishing, hiking in the mountains and horses. He was a loving, caring and thoughtful young man who was a friend to everyone. He was known as "Texas" to some, because of his cowboy boots and black cowboy hat that he never went anywhere without. John David was preceded in death by his father, John Maldonado; sister, Desiree Thomas; grandfather, Robert Stokes; and his niece, Dolores Maldonado. He is survived by his mother, Kathryn Maldonado; stepfather, John Pickhinke; sister, Tiffany Thomas-Orantes, and her husband, Josue Orantes; brother, Ian Thomas, and his wife, Brittany Thomas; sisters, Vanessa, Valerie, and Vickie Maldonado; grandmother, Georgia Stokes; grandfather, Robin Mooney; grandmother, Dolores Maldonado; uncles and Aunts, Ike and Jill Brewster, Mike and Clydeen Mooney, and Robert Sanchez. John David is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. John David will forever be missed by his family; his girlfriend, Clarice Truitt; and his friends in Palisade. Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM on Monday, June 23rd at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Visitation will be prior to service from 10:00AM until 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan. Donations can be made to your favorite charity in his name.
