Obituary

JOHN J. ROMERO, 75, lifelong resident of Brush, died Monday afternoon, January 14, 2008 at Sterling Regional Med Center. He was born in Brush on May 10, 1932 to Vicinter & Reyes (Ulibbarri) Romero. He worked as a laborer for a meat packing plant for the majority of his life. Romero was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. He enjoyed watching football and boxing. In his younger years he enjoyed singing western music. Romero is survived by eight children, John Romero Jr., Julius Romero, Anthony Romero, Matthew Romero, Yvonne Castilleja, and Loretta Pena, all of Brush; Mark Romero of Fort Morgan, and Roland Romero of Denver. He is also survived by four sisters, Betty Laso of Brush, Marie Romero of Colorado Springs, and Fibby Ramirez and Corina Perez, both of California; one brother, Frank Romero of California; 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Stella Romero; and four brothers, Bill Romero, Al Romero, Jake Romero, and Hurchell Romero. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel on Thursday from 2 – 7 PM with a Rosary Vigil at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:30 AM at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. Interment will follow in Brush Memorial Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Saint Mary's Church in Brush The Heer Mortuary & Crematory in Brush is in charge of arrangements.
