John Joseph Sprawka went home to be with his Lord and mom and dad on December 12th, 2023 in Brush, CO after a valiant struggle with several health issues. John was born in Ellinwood, KS on May 11th, 1960 to Art and Rita Sprawka.

John resided in group homes for the developmentally disabled located in Julesburg, Sterling, and for the majority of his adult life at the Vickie Street home in Fort Morgan. John's childhood wonderment was a blessing to all who knew him. Every day had a Christmas feel as he blessed his family and friends with his marvelous singing voice. John's smile would light up the room. Some of John's greatest joys were singing, watching Lawrence Welk, Christmas gatherings, celebrating birthdays, opening presents, spending time outdoors, going for car rides, swimming, petting dogs and playing with his childhood toys. His never-ending excitement and contentment for all the little things will forever be remembered. He was blessed, throughout his life with wonderful care from amazing individuals that treated him as one of their own.

The Sprawka Family will forever be grateful for Eastern Colorado Services for the Developmentally Disabled and the amazing care and friendships he experienced at the day program at Noresco Workshop and Vickie Street home.

John is survived by his second mother, Marilyn Sprawka of Fort Morgan; sisters, Stacey (Randy) Ward of Topeka, KS, Mary (Joseph) Bazzanella of Bennett, CO, Toni Sprawka of Topeka, KS, Amy (Victor) Fuentes of Corpus Cristi, TX; and brother, Scott (Susie) Stricker of Superior, CO, and many nieces and nephews.

John was proceeded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 18th at 10:30AM at the United Presbyterian Church in Fort Morgan. Luncheon will be served following the service. Santa hats are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Noresco Workshop or Vicki Street House in care of Eastern Colorado Services for the Developmentally Disabled.
