John E. Woodward, 90, life resident of the Snyder & Brush communities, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush.  He was born August 25, 1931, in Brush to Lorraine & Russell Woodward.

John graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1949.  He also graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.  He joined the US Air Force in 1953 and served as a Fighter Pilot.  Following his honorable discharge, John returned to the family farm where he began his lifelong passion and career as a farmer / rancher.

On August 20, 1957, he married Marilyn Lorensen in Brush.   John enjoyed fishing, hunting, horses, flying his airplane, and spending time with his family.  His passion was his farm and ranch activities.  He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marilyn; his three children Gregory (Heather) Woodward, Matthew Woodward, and Amy (Roland) Nation; 7 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 603 Custer Street, in Brush on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at 10:30 AM.  Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.  Reception following at the Carroll Building, 418 Edison Street.  Those attending the service should wear whatever personal protective equipment to take measures against COVID such as masks and social distancing.
