Jose "Joe" Martinez, 84, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
He was born August 2, 1940, in Campbellton, TX to Jose and Florencia Martinez. He married Herminia Godino on August 20, 1958, in Dimmitt, TX and they had six children, Ed, Victor, Annette, Joe Jr., Adam, and Lalo. The Martinez family moved to Fort Morgan where Joe established his concrete business, Joe Martinez Construction. He also drove truck for a number of years. After Herminia's death in 2005, Joe married Marisela Meza on January 7, 2017. They had one son, JoseAngel.
Joe's passion was his family and his work. He had a strong work ethic, and he never considered it a job, but just something that he loved doing. Above all else, Joe was a true family man. He was truly proud of all of his children and grandchildren and the life that he made. He truly made the best of life and lived it to the fullest. Aside from work and family, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and he had a passion for Spanish music, singing, and dancing.
Joe is survived by his wife, Marisela; his children, Annette (Scott) Roth, Adam Martinez, Lalo (Libby) Martinez, and JoseAngel Martinez; his daughter-in-law, Fawn Martinez; four stepchildren, Carmen (Andrew) Alvarez, Herminia Meza, Vicente (Lesly) Meza, and Kimberly Meza, nine grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Herminia Martinez; three sons, Ed, Victor, and Joe Jr., five brothers, two sisters and his daughter-in-law, Cindy Martinez.
Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan on Sunday, January 12th from 4 – 6 PM with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 13th at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
