Joseph H. Daviet, Jr. (92) passed away Saturday January 7, 2017 at his home in Brush. He was born in Lockport, Louisiana on October 6, 1924 to Joseph Sr. and Margie Daviet.
Joe graduated from Lockport High school at the age of seventeen and went directly into military service with the US Army Air Corp. during WWII. While in the service, he served as a turret gunner and crew member on a B-17 flying fortress that was part of the 94th bomber group. During his term of service Joe received many medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with a four oak leaf cluster. He served in the European Theater from 1941-1944.
After the war Joe was stationed at Fort Logan in Englewood, Colorado where he met and married his wife Dorathy V. Richard on January 20, 1945. He remained in Englewood working as an electrician and salesman for Poindexter Electric Company. In 1964, Joe and two brothers-in-law founded Newco, Inc., an electrical wholesale company, in Greeley, CO where Joe, his wife and family resided until 1976. He relocated to Brush, CO to manage Newco's Fort Morgan store located at 101 Lake Street. Joe retired in the 1980's with the business continuing operations under the management of his children and the children of his partners John "Dewey" and George "Buster" Richard.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Dorathy V. Daviet, son, David M. Daviet, sister, Yvonne Grimes, brother, Frank Daviet, and his parents. Joe is survived by his three daughters; Carol Clothier, Littleton, CO, Connie Daviet, Brush, CO, and Nancy Hockley of Addy, WA. He has 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family plans on a private inurnment service.
