JOSEPH S. MARTINEZ, 76, long-time Brush resident died early Sunday morning, September 27, 2009 at his home. He was born June 20, 1933 in Alamosa, CO to Teofilo & Louise (Cordova) Martinez. He married Rosemary Alice Romero on July 26, 1952 in Boulder County, CO. Martinez farmed and worked as a labourer for the majority of his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include six children, Jerry Martinez, Shirley Martinez, and Madalin Smith, all of Brush, Vivian Martinez of Pueblo, Marilyn Howard of Greenbryer, TN, and Joann Lopez of Fresno, CA; two sisters, Evelyn Robles and Margaret Meras, both of Denver; and his brother, Jake Martinez of Denver. He was preceded in death by his wife; his daughter, Maryann Martinez; and his son, Joseph D. Martinez. Visitation will be Thursday, October 1st from 1 – 5 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Brush. Services will be Friday, October 2nd at 10:30 AM at the Brush Memorial Cemetery Interment Chapel. Interment will follow.
