Obituary

Josephine June Duvall, long-time Fort Morgan resident, passed away on Tuesday, April 27. Josephine was a dedicated and loving mother to seven children and grandmother to fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Born in Tioga, Colorado in 1927, she spent most of her childhood in Walsenburg, Colorado with her parents Minnie and Anthony and sisters Helen and Anna Joan. Josephine graduated from Central High School in Pueblo, Colorado in 1946 and began working as a secretary at the Union Gas company where she met her future husband, Toby Duvall. They were married on October 25, 1947.

Toby and Jo moved their family to Fort Morgan, Colorado in 1964. Jo loved children, especially babies, so after she raised her family she worked for over 20 years as a teaching assistant at Baker Elementary and later Pioneer Elementary. She was a member of St. Helena's Catholic church where she volunteered as a religious education teacher and was an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Jo enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States and also internationally to Mexico, Canada and several countries in Europe. She always loved spending time in the mountains. When not traveling, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, gardening and hosting frequent large family gatherings.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Minnie Svetkoff, husband, Toby Duvall, daughter Pamela Patten and sister, Helen Bomar. She is survived by her sister Anna Joan Stimac, her children: Deborah Gachne, Chris (Cheri) Duvall , Tom (Joan) Duvall, Barbara (Antonio) Duvall Grassino, Donna (Don) Duvall Ostwald, and Lori Duvall; grandchildren: Jennifer (Michael) Mishra, Jill Patten, Toby (Abby) Patten, Erin (Jon) Conaway, Chrisann(Brett) Reese, Kaylynn Duvall, Matthew (Alicia) Duvall, Michael Duvall, Lani (Jeff) Yardley, Steven (Nicole) Duvall, Anna (Valerio) Grassino DeDominici, Francesco (Daniela) Grassino, Alex Ostwald, Paige Ostwald; great-grandchildren: Beau and Sydney Conaway, Kelsey, Mackenzi, Lexie Reese, Breeze Duvall, Thaddeus Yardley, Samantha and Justin Duvall, Noah and Nathan DeDominici.
