Obituary

Josephine Raquel Juanes, 18, of Fort Morgan, died early Saturday morning, August 9, 2014 from injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle accident on I-76 near Fort Morgan. Josephine was born in Fort Morgan on December 9, 1995 to J. Ascencion & Margaret (Sanchez) Juanes. She attended schools in Fort Morgan and graduated from Fort Morgan High School with the class of 2014. During high school, Josie was active in FCCLA. Josie was a member of Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. She was a shy and quiet young lady with a sweet spirit and a heart of gold, always willing to put the needs of others before herself. She will be remembered for her loving, gentle kindness. Josie enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family and friends. Photography became her passion, as she longed to professionalize her work and someday own her own photography studio. She was studying at the Art Institute of Colorado in Denver at the time of her death. She is survived by her mother, Margaret Juanes of Fort Morgan; her father, Ascencion Juanes of Greeley; three brothers, Tomas Juanes of Grand Junction, and Abel Juanes and Roy Juanes, both of Texas; her maternal grandparents, Alfonso & Mary Granado of Greeley; her paternal grandfather, Tomas Juanes of Mexico; and her maternal great-great grandmother, Agnes Sanchez of Washington state. Josie is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Stephanie Sanchez, Norma Granado, Alfonso Granado Jr., Alex Sanchez, Rafalia Juanes, and Augustina Juanes; her cousin, Noel Sanchez, who was very special to her, and numerous cousins and other family and friends who will all miss her dearly. Vigil and Visitation will be Wednesday, August 13th from 4 -8 PM at the Fort Morgan High School Glenn Miller Auditorium. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 14th at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan. Memorials may be made in Memory of Josie and sent to Heer Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
