Joshuah E. Atkins, 2, and his Mother, Katie A. Griggs, died of injuries suffered in a one vehicle accident on I-80 near Gothenburg, NE. The accident happened on November 7, 2011. Joshuah died in Lincoln, NE after being airlifted from the scene. Katie died at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Kearney, NE on November 11. Joshuah was born May 21, 2009, in Fort Morgan to Jonathan Atkins and Katie Griggs all of Brush. In addition to his Father, Joshuah is survived by his grandparents, Timothy Atkins of Brush, Alice Sullivan of Denver, and Deborah & Billy Griggs of Brush; and his great grandmother, Janice Atkins of Brush. Katie was born October 12, 1988, in Denver, CO. Billy & Deborah Griggs later adopted Katie. Katie graduated from Brush High School in 2007. She worked as a certified nurse assistant. In addition to her parents, Katie is survived by 1 sister, Jessica Schilling of Brush; and 3 brothers, Christopher Griggs, Brad Quillen and Jacob Fechter all of Brush. A joint memorial service will be held Friday, November 18, 2011, at 10:30 AM at the All Saints Lutheran Church at Eben Ezer. The service will conclude at the church.
