Joyce Hansen, 78, lifelong area resident, died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was born October 10, 1932 in Ft. Morgan to Robert and Ferne (Plumb) Henness. Joyce married Robert H. Hansen on November 27, 1955. Joyce was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Women. She was the first female Deputy Sheriff in Morgan County and was also the first librarian at Thompson Elementary School. She enjoyed reading, traveling, music, computers and her rock garden. Joyce loved her family, especially her grandchildren, as they were very important to her. Survivors include her husband Robert of Brush; sons, Robert H. Hansen of Brush, James Mark Hansen of Washington, DC, and Steven G. Hansen of Phnom Penh, Cambodia; one daughter, Jenneane Musegades of Collinsville, Illinois; one brother, Dale Henness of Greeley, two sisters, Naomi Yearous of Brush and Norma Henson of Ft. Morgan, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Joyce was preceeded in death by her parents, one brother, Robert Henness and one sister, Marilyn Canfield. A memorial service will be Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush. Services will conclude at the church. Memorial gifts may be made to Lutheran World Relief in care of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush.
