Joyce L. Wagers Clem of Loveland, CO passed onto heaven on October 25, 2023.

Joyce left a legacy defined by her endless love and care for others, those she encouraged, and her famous home-grown vegetables. Despite many life challenges, her love for family, strong faith, and character were evident throughout her life.

Joyce was born on October 31, 1931, in Denver, CO, to the late John and Lorene Plane.  She grew up on a farm near Hillrose, CO. After high school, she attended college and met John L. Wagers, whom she married on March 26, 1950.  They settled in Brush and had three children. She loved to sew, bake, garden and she played the pipe organ for Sunday services at the Rankin Presbyterian Church.  After the kids graduated and married, 3 grandkids were born in in 1976 and 1977 and great memories were made.  Joyce was unexpectedly widowed when John passed following heart surgery on May 29, 1978.

Three words that defined Joyce were Determination, Persistence, and Strength. Since she dreamed of becoming a nurse, she applied and was accepted to Presbyterian/St. Luke's Nursing School in Denver.  Once she obtained her nursing degree, she returned to Brush where she worked as an RN at East Morgan Country Hospital for several years.

Joyce met Harold Clem and they were married December 1985.  They moved to Loveland, CO where Joyce worked as a Hospice nurse and Hal as a General Contractor. After retiring, each summer they planted a large vegetable garden, and they enjoyed sharing the produce with others. Joyce was passionate about music, and she continued playing the organ at Faith Church where she and Hal both sang in the choir for many years.

Throughout her life, people would stop and tell Joyce that she had such a lovely smile.  F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote, It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living. This quote certainly describes how Joyce's smile affected those she encountered, and we will always remember her for it.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her son, Mark Wagers, her daughter Debra Kathman, her grandson, Kreston Babcock, and her sisters, Anne Plane and June Garnett.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith Babcock Parziale and husband, Jeff (Loveland), sister, Marcia Criag (Stoneham) and daughter-in-law, Jeannie Wagers (Woodrow).  She also leaves nephews and nieces that she treasured, 10 wonderful grandkids and 17 great grandchildren that she loved dearly.
