Juan Lopez – Mendez, 44, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the Denver Health Medical Center. He was born April 22, 1973, in Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Juan Mendez Zuniga & Eusebia Lopez Mendez.

The Mendez family moved to the Wiggins community in 1975. Juan graduated from Wiggins High School in 1992 and from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. At the time of his death Juan worked as a mortgage broker.

Juan was raised of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed working out & staying active. He enjoyed attending his nieces and nephews many events. He loved football & loved spending time with friends and especially time with his family.

Survivors include his parents, Juan & Eusebia of Wiggins; 3 brothers; Antonio (Barbara) Lopez – Mendez, Ramon (Tina) Lopez – Mendez, and Eric Mendez; 4 sisters; Maria Olga (Angel) Marquez, Inez M. (Andy) Oberg, Gisela (Gerry) Moya, and Sally Mendez. Also surviving are 12 nieces & nephews; Tony, Corina & Lucas Mendez, Evelyn Mendez, Raquel, Adrian, & Miguel Marquez, Kaitlyn, Cameron & Emma Lane & Jordan Mendez, Isaac & Alec Oberg, Gianni Romero, and Clara Mendez. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 9, 2017, at 10:00 AM at St. Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan from 2 – 4 PM with a rosary to be recited at 4:00 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Juan Lopez – Mendez Memorial Fund c/o the Heer Mortuary.
