Obituary

Judith (Judy) A. Hansen, 84, of Brush, passed away at the St Vincent St. Clair Medical Center in Pell City, Alabama on Monday, December 28, 2020.  She was born July 3, 1936, in North Syracuse, NY to Joseph & Hazelle Brascho.

During a trip West to Colorado she met the love of her life and on September 12, 1959, Judy married Harold Hansen in Aurora, CO.  Following their wedding, Judy & Harold worked and lived on the Hansen Family Farm north of Brush until they retired.  Prior to retirement in 2004, Judy worked 35 years as a phlebotomist at the East Morgan County Hospital.  Judy enjoyed pop culture, movies, gambling in Black Hawk and all sports, especially tennis and her beloved Denver Broncos.  She was known for her keen fashion sense and loved the color purple and a good margarita on the rocks.  Judy charmed everyone she met and had friends across many states.  Judy spent the winter months these last ten years with their son, Darren, in Round Rock, TX and this past February they moved together to Alabama.

Judy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.  She is survived by her 2 children, Hilary Hansen of Brush and Darren Hansen of Cropwell, AL; 1 brother, Donn Brascho (June) of Cropwell, AL; brother-in-law Lawrence (June) of Brush; sister-in-law Dorothy Ballheim of Ft. Morgan; sister-in-law Evelyn Haigh (Richard) of Castle Pines, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and inurnment will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Brush Memorial Cemetery Interment Chapel.  Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Judy Hansen Memorial Fund c/o the Heer Mortuary.
