Judy
Miller
Jan 3, 1944 — Oct 12, 2023
Fort Morgan
Judy Miller, 79, of Ft. Morgan, CO passed away peacefully in her home on October 12, 2023, with her family by her side.
Judith Elaine Sagel was born in Brush, CO on January 3, 1944 to Dave D. and Rachel (Becker) Sagel. She grew up on a farm in Ft. Morgan with her older brother, David. Judy loved life on the farm where she could be with the animals, ride horses, and play in the dirt. She especially enjoyed catching snakes and frightening her brother with them. Judy's greatest joy in life was raising her children and spending time with family. She gave birth to a son, William (Bill) in 1964, a daughter, Lainie in 1968, and a daughter, Anna, in 1989 which she called her miracle baby because Anna was unexpected.
Judy took great pride in taking care of her home and family, and she insisted on always doing any job the right way. She was honest, hardworking, loyal, smart, and independent. She knew how to pinch pennies and still provide everything her family needed. She was a great cook and made many delicious meals for her family. Judy was filled with wisdom, gave great advice when needed, and she was the strongest woman ever known to her family and friends.
Judy had a beautiful smile and a special twinkle in her eye. Some say that she smiled with her mouth and her eyes. She also had a great sense of humor and was sometimes ornery, so she brought lots of joy and laughter to her family and friends. She was admittedly a good talker, and she could find friends to visit with everywhere she went. She once lived through a near-death brain aneurysm which put her into a coma. Upon waking up, she realized she hadn't talked for many weeks, and she announced that she had a lot of catching up to do with her conversations.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bowling, bingo, music, and dancing to her son's guitar playing in several bands. For many years, Judy kept her mind sharp with word puzzles, and she enjoyed her daily devotional books in which she would often highlight verses or phrases that had special meaning to her. Judy loved the Lord and had accepted Jesus as her Savior. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Evangelical Church.
She had several professions including waitress, retail clerk, baker, cake decorator, meat processor, and lastly a paralegal for the department of social services before retiring in 2007.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Dave D. and Rachel Sagel, and her nephew, David A. Sagel. She is survived by her brother, David D. Sagel of Burlington, CO, a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Libbi Albert of Westminster, CO, her daughter and son-in-law, Lainie and Aaron Columbia of Wiggins, CO, and her daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Ryan Elrick of Ft. Morgan, CO, a niece Kathy Hertneky of Burlington, CO, and a niece, Pam Sagel of Westminster, CO. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Mandy, Rachel, Riley, Avery, step-grandchildren; Shannon, Ryan, Jeremy, Andrew, seven step great-grandchildren, and one step great-great-grandchild, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 20th at 10:30 am at Immanuel Evangelical Church in Ft. Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Ft. Morgan.
