June May Holman, 82, died in her sleep at home in Brush, CO, on Monday, January 20, 2020. The family has been caring for her at home as she slowly grew older and less able to care for herself and she passed away with family members by her side.
June was born on April 13, 1937, in Axtel, KS, second of three children. The family moved to Lincoln, NE, where she lived most of her younger life. June was an excellent singer, she sang in the choir and performed in musicals. She also enjoyed dancing and was a teacher's assistant in both music and swimming. On November 14, 1954 she married Allen Woodford "Woody" Holman Sr. in Nebraska and a few years later they moved to Colorado, first to Greeley and then to Brush in 1966 where she has been raising her family ever since.
She liked to make clothes for her children and was a girl scout leader for many years. She helped her husband tend the garden and take care of various farm animals. She also enjoyed spending time with family, playing games, bingo, jigsaw puzzles, gambling, and bowling. When her children got older, she worked at the beef plant in Fort Morgan for over 13 years.
Survivors include all 6 of her children, Kriss (Steve) Dixon of Brush, Allen (Leslie) Holman Jr. of Morrison, CO, Roxanna (Gaylen) Krueger of Northglenn, CO, Rodney Holman of Brush, Sandra Holman and Jody Smith of Brush, 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many relatives.
June is proceeded in death by her parents, brother and sister, her husband, and 2 grandchildren, Kimberly and Hilary Holman.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 3-6 PM at Heer Mortuary Brush Chapel. Funeral service will be at 9:00 AM on Friday, January 24, 2020 followed with interment at Brush Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in June's name C/O Heer Mortuary, 222 Cameron St. Brush, CO 80723.
