Obituary

Karen Ann Gerken, 66, of Fort Morgan, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on January 30, 2016.

Karen was born in Goodland, Kansas on December 17, 1949 to Solomon and Letha Meyer. Karen graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1967. On September 30, 1967 she married the love of her life, Ed Gerken where they lived on the family farm their entire 48 years of married life. Together they raised two sons and two daughters.

She loved to collect and restore antiques and collected many quilts over the years. Karen loved to find treasures at antique stores and garage sales. She loved her 11 grandsons and lived to have them visit and raid her candy drawer.   She followed the boys' sports and activities diligently.

Karen is survived by her husband, Ed of Fort Morgan; her 4 children, Andrew (Dawn) Gerken and their boys, Jacob, Drew and Cody of Fort Morgan, Derek (Elise) Gerken and their boys, Conner, Trevor, Devin and Nathan of Fort Morgan, Marci Rees and son, James of Fort Morgan, and Becky (Gage) Steensen and son, Thomas of Suamico, Wisconsin; and three sisters, Kay Price of Skokie, Illinois, Marsha Kingcade of Fort Morgan, and Nancy Abbott of Gurnee, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Samuel Rees and Solomon Steensen.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 6th at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Sherman Street in Fort Morgan.

Memorial gifts may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Gideons International.
