Karen L. Thompson, 76, died of injuries suffered in a one-vehicle rollover accident on I-76 near Fort Morgan on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. She was born December 12, 1940 in Corning, IA to Harley (Buck) & Elsie Holdren.

Karen worked as a secretary and later an office manager in an oral surgeon office and later at a collection office. On September 12, 1987, Karen married Edgar W. Thompson in Brighton, CO. In 1995 Karen & Edgar moved to Wiggins.

Karen was a member of the Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church in Goodrich, CO; GLAD club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid reader and was an American History buff, especially when it came to history surrounding the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. She also loved researching genealogy about her own family..

Survivors include her husband, Edgar of Wiggins; 2 sons, Chris (Shannon) Hoover of Thornton, CO, and Todd Hoover of Lakewood; her Mother, Elsie Davis of Greeley; a step-son, Glen Thompson of Thornton, CO;  2 brothers, Steve Holdren of Northglenn, CO and John Holdren of Greeley, CO; 2 granddaughters, Kristen Kreger and Felicia Harkins; and 6 great grandchildren, Katrina, Gavin, Kaleb, Trista, Kayden, and Savanna. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Hoover, 1 brother, Dave Holdren, and her Father.

A celebration of life service will be at the Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church in Goodrich on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 11:00 AM. The service will conclude at the church. Memorial gifts may be given to the Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church or to the National Jewish Hospital. The Heer Mortuary is entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
