Karla
Powell
Feb 11, 1961 — Aug 18, 2025
Fort Morgan
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Karla L. Powell, 64, of Fort Morgan, Colorado after a tragic accident on August 18,2025. Karla was born in Lubbock Texas on February 11, 1961 and has lived in Fort Morgan since 1995.
In 1986, Karla married Walt Powell, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and friendship. They were blessed with 3 children, one bonus daughter, one grandson, and an impending granddaughter. Karla found joy in her family and especially cherished her time as "Yayah" with her grandson, Carrick.
She was a wife, mother, home school-teacher, Marriage Mediator, and mentor. During her career she was often found in the front offices of medical and dental offices. She was also Administrative Services Manager for the Morgan County Commissioners until her retirement into full-time ministry. On days where she needed a respite from the world, Karla could be found in the Colorado mountains seeking "altitude for her attitude."
Karla was a member of "The Sanctuary" church in Fort Morgan and was heavily involved in her marriage ministry through "Rock Power Marriage Ministry". Karla treasured her faith and connection to God, constantly finding ways to deepen her connection and share her faith every day.
Karla is survived by her parents, Danny and Earlene Moore, her husband, Walt Powell, her brother, Dan (Kelly) Moore, her children, Jase (Kaycee) Powell, Morgan (Conroy) Stout, and Mackenzie Powell, Lexi Espinosa and her grandson, Carrick. Karla joins her sister D'Lene in heaven.
A memorial Service for her will be held at "The Sanctuary" church in Fort Morgan Colorado on September 6, 2025, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a memorial fund through Rock Power Ministries in her memory.
Though Karla will be deeply missed by her family and friends, her legacy of faith, love, and thoughtfulness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
