Obituary

Karroll Alan "Swede" Freitag, 74, longtime area resident, died Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Ft. Morgan. He was born February 17, 1939 in Enderlin, North Dakota to Henry and Ida (Johnson) Freitag. He married Sharon Heronema March 1, 2003 in Ft. Morgan. Karroll was an avid horseman. He was a member of the Saddle Club, and was an active member of the Lion's Club. He enjoyed reading the newspaper, especially the comic strip, and was known to "coffee" with his friends, sometimes three times a day . Karroll is survived by his wife, Sharon of Ft. Morgan, step-children, Elisabeth Ferguson (Richard) of Ft. Morgan, Monique Weerman (Jay) of Broomfield, Dominic Blanch of Erie, and Michael Blanch of Ft. Morgan, brothers, Dennis Freitag of New Ulm, Minnesota, and Dale Freitag of Malta, Montana, twelve grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and two nephews, Hal and Joe, that were like his own children, and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Maynard Freitag; and his first wife, Norma. There will be a visitation on Thursday, December 19th from 5 until 7 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Saint Charles Episcopal Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the church. The Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
