Katie E. Brautigam, 93, passed away Thursday evening, January 3, 2008, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. She was born March 13, 1914, in Berry, KY, to Jeff & Stella Whitaker. Katie moved to Morgan County in 1937. On April 29, 1950, she married Pete Brautigam Sr., in Fort Collins. Katie worked in the housekeeping department at Sunset Manor Nursing Home, Katie was a member of the Immanuel Congregational Church and was active in the Brush Senior Center. She worked with the Meet 'n Eat program for many years also. Survivors include her children, Barbara Jean Schlotthauer of Kent, WA, Pete Brautigam Jr. of Hillrose, CO, and Ruth Berglund of Gypsum, CO; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and her parents. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 7, 2008, at 10:30 AM at the Heer Mortuary in Brush. The service will conclude at the mortuary. Private inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Brush Senior Center c/o Heer Mortuary.
