Ken Knight, 64, of Brush, passed away July 29, 2014, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. A remembrance of Ken's life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the Livestock Exchange in Brush. The service will conclude at that time with private family inurnment at a later date. Ken was born June 7, 1950, in Brush to Ralph & AnnaBelle Knight and was raised on the family farm south of Brush. After graduating from Brush High School in 1968, he moved to Boulder where he majored in business and accounting at the University of Colorado. After college, he remained on the front range in the Denver area where he met Dawn, who would become his partner in life and business for the next 40 years. Ken & Dawn were married in Arvada, CO in 1978. In 1980 they returned to the family farm to reconnect with Ken's love of farming and cattle. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Samantha, Ashley, and Courtney, whom they also raised on the family farm, Ken never lost his desire to continue learning. He began his knowledge of grain merchandising while working at Cox Grain. In 1990, he began his own business, Golden West Agri Services. An active member of the community, Ken served in Rotary and on various boards. The family remains proud to this day of the Golden West Art Show which he and Dawn founded to benefit children with disabilities, a cause that was very close to their hearts. The art show was part of the Brush Rodeo for ten years. This was just a glimpse of the generous man that was always willing to contribute to charities that work to improve the lives of others. Ken leaves behind his wife, Dawn; his daughters, Samantha (CJ) , Ashley, and Courtney; his grandchildren, Adilynn and Evan; his sister, Shirley Burt; nephews Bill, Ty, Todd, Adam, Jesse, and nieces Shannon and Kari.
