Ken Kelly passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Eben Ezer, after a long battle with Dementia/Alzheimer's.
Kenneth Lee Kelly was born October 2, 1938, in Greeley, CO, to John Edward and Vera Lee Kelly. Ken attended the Galeton school district for 11 years, graduated from Eaton High School in 1956, and went on to Colorado State University "Aggies" for one year.
After graduation in 1956, Ken met Betty Lage at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, CO. On April 27, 1958, Ken and Betty were married and have three children, Christine, Jerry, and Tim.
After marriage, Ken worked at JCPenney's in Brush. Ken and Betty owned and operated the Coast To Coast Store in Brush, CO, for 15 years. After selling the store, he worked at Clatworthy's Company, Akron Greenhouse, and the Yuma School District. Ken retired from the Yuma School District in 2004.
Ken was an Active person and was involved in many groups. He was a Member of the Beaver Creek Muzzleloaders of Brush for almost 40 years and enjoyed attending all of the Rendezvous. This is where he began his love for his beadwork.
Ken was a volunteer firefighter for 20 years at the Brush Volunteer Fire Department, and he was also a past Exalted Ruler and Lifetime member of the Fort Morgan Elks Lodge #1143.
Ken was an avid sports fan who followed all the high school sports in local areas. He loved watching his grandsons play ice hockey and, of course, was a diehard fan of the Chicago Cubs, Denver Broncos, Denver Colorado Avalanche, and Colorado Rockies.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, his son Jerry, and son-in-law Jeff Pangle.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Brush, CO, married 67 years; daughter, Chris of Severance, CO; two grandsons, Matt of Severance, CO, and Mitch of Kearney, Nebraska; one son, Tim of Sterling, CO; sister-in-law Shirley Hafer; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush, CO, located at 603 Custer St.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
