Kenneth David Ruff, 74, of Brush, passed away at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley on Monday, October 6. Ken was diagnosed with acute leukemia and pneumonia one week ago and lost his fight very quickly. Ken was born in Basin, WY on August 30, 1940, to Andrew and Esther (Laymen) Ruff. He graduated from Craig High School in 1959 and soon after moved to Fort Morgan, where he worked at Big T Super. He later worked at Sigman Meat Company and Edwards Market before purchasing, with his best friend Ralph Hernandez, East Side Liquor Store in Brush. Ken spent many happy hours visiting with his faithful customers. Though his last few years were difficult because he had to use a walker, he still showed up most days with a cheerful smile on his face. His business, along with his son and beautiful grandchildren were his life. Ken is survived by his son Rory David Ruff of Fort Morgan; 6 grandchildren, Alexis, Johnathon, and Alek Ruff of Fort Morgan; Victoria Casebier of Larned, Kansas; Caroline Christophe of Roosevelt, UT, and Mary Ruff of Pueblo; and one sister, Edith Akers of Lamar, CO. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and his parents. Private services will be held at Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan at a later date. The Heer Mortuary and Crematory was entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
