Larry Guernsey, 65, former Brush Police Officer, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley following a lengthy illness. He was born September 8, 1945, in Holyoke, CO, to Melvin & Rubye Guernsey. Larry graduated from Wray High School in 1963. He started with the Brush Police Department on June 9, 1967. After a couple of years with BPD, Larry joined the Colorado State Patrol. On September 5, 1970 Larry returned to the Brush Police Department and continued his service until ill health forced him to retire March 1, 2006. Larry had served as patrolman, Lieutenant, Assistant Chief, and was acting chief on several occasions. Larry loved police work. His passion was riding his motorcycle and collecting guns. Survivors include 2 sisters, Glenda Ramsey and Linda Clabaugh; 1 nephew, Brian Clabaugh; 1 niece Brenda O'Buck, her husband, Dennis and 2 children Murphy & Grady. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 30, 2010, at 2:00 PM at the Brush Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be at the Church of the Nazarene from 11:00 until service time. Concluding service and interment will be in Holyoke, CO. on Monday, November 1, 2010, at 1:00 PM.
