Larry W. Mese, 71, of Fort Morgan, passed away early Saturday morning, March 26, 2016 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born in December 19, 1944 in Fort Morgan to Linus & Ellen (Venard) Mese. He attended schools in Fort Morgan and graduated from Fort Morgan High School before joining the service. Larry served as a Jet Engine Mechanic in the US Air Force from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1967.
Larry worked as a mechanic in the oilfield for a number of years, part of which he did running his own business, Mese Mobile Maintenance. He also dedicated his work life to his passion of automobiles. Larry enjoyed drag racing and restoring muscle cars. Being a proud veteran, he also took a great interest in collecting military memorabilia.
He is survived by his children, Kari Mese, Kirk Mese, Justin (Katie) Mese, and Linus Mese; Linus' mother, Leona M. Mata; his two sisters, Karen (Archie) Crisp, and Teresa Mese; three brothers, Dwayne (Sue) Mese, Jeff (Sheri) Mese, and Tom (Tami Walker) Mese. Larry is also survived by his grandchildren, Kyle, Amy, Jerri Ann, Cameron, Korbin, Tayler, Skylor, Maddison, and Nathan; two great grandchildren; and his step children, Bret Orton, and Tenneya Arbuckle; and their mother, Deb Gammel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Frank & Betty Meis, and Lloyd & Alice (Ingmire) Venard; his brother, Lance "Buzz" Mese; his grandson, Michael Edwards; and his first wife, Sandy Reasoner.
Visitation will be Friday, April 1st from 4 -7 PM with a Rosary Vigil at 7:00 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel, 225 E. Platte Ave. in Fort Morgan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 2nd at 1:00 PM from Saint Helena's Catholic Church, 917 W. Seventh Ave. in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
