Obituary

LaVar Franklin Floyd, 69, of Brush went to be with our Lord on April 7, 2022 from complications of a stroke.

LaVar was a lifetime resident of Colorado. Born and raised in Sterling, Co to Lawrence and Margie (Walker) Floyd. He went to Sterling school and then joined the Army, doing a tour in Vietnam. He settled back in Sterling, met Betty Lester, and they were married in 1974. They moved to the Fort Morgan/Brush area in 1976, and had two children; a son Michael, and a daughter Carrie. They moved to Brush in 1985 where he ran his own construction company for 40 years.

He enjoyed restoring muscle cars, bowling, golfing and playing and spending time with his kids and three grandsons.

LaVar is survived by his wife Betty; children, Michael Floyd of Thornton, CO, and Carrie (Brandon) Webb of Brush; his three grandsons, Quinten, Gage and Andrew, all of Brush; a brother, Arthur Lawrence (Connie) Floyd of Estes Park; two sisters, Barbara Sue Mathies of Brush, and Joyce Floyd of Sterling.  He is remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Margie Floyd; his mother and father-in-law, Jess and Edna Lester; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Floyd and Barbra Lester; and one brother-in-law, Steven Mathies.

A memorial service will be held for LaVar Friday, April 15, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 603 Custer Street in Brush, CO.
