LAWRENCE E. CARROLL JR., 30, of Mount Vernon, TX, died early Sunday morning, October 5, 2008 in Franklin County, TX from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was born June 14, 1978 in Morgantown, WV to Lawrence & Lydia (Guajardo) Carroll. He graduated from high school in Goodland, KS. He continued his education at Morgan Community College and online at the University of Maryland and the Military Technical School with more than 70 hours of study. Mr. Carroll served six years in the U.S. Airforce with the First Combat Communications Division. His service included tours in Italy, Germany, Iraq, and Kuwait. He was currently working as a communications systems administrator in Iraq with TransQuest. Survivors include his parents, Lawrence & Lydia Carroll; two brothers, John Carroll and Harold Carroll, all of Mount Vernon, TX; three sisters, Leanna Carroll and Melvina Kalb, both of Mount Vernon, and Julia Lambert of Fort Morgan. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Molly Padilla of Fort Morgan. Funeral services were October 8th in Mount Vernon, TX. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 6 – 8 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 15th at 2:00 PM in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan. The Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of the local arrangements.
