Leah Lauck was born June 3, 1917 in Minatare, Nebraska to Fred and Anna Weimer, German immigrants from Russia. In 1918 she moved with her family to Ft. Morgan and remained a resident of Morgan County for the rest of her life. She died on Tuesday, September 19,2006 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center. Leah married Peter Lauck on April 25, 1936 and celebrating nearly 65 years of marriage before his death. She was a homemaker, farm wife, and loving mother and grandmother. She filled her family's and friends' lives with her faith and her love. A christian all her life, Leah was a charter member of the Wiggins Community Church. She was active in the church including many years as a Sunday School teacher and as a member of the Women's Fellowship. Leah also led the Sunshine 4-H Club for several years. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Christ Congregational Church in Ft. Morgan. Four daughters and two sons-in-law survive her: Betty and Bill Baker of Ft. Morgan, Esther and Dr. David J. Ellis of Los Altos, California , Alma Kirk of Ft. Collins, and Mary Lauck of La Salle. Leah is also survived by one granddaughter, Sharon (Dan) Kauffman, and Seven grandsons: Doug (Janna) Baker, Jeff Ellis, Brad Ellis, Mike (Kristin) Ellis, Tim (Jeanetta) Kirk, Bret Kirk, and Benjamin Kirk. Ten great grandchildren also survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter, a son-in-law, Larry J. Kirk, her parents Fred and Anna Weimer, three sisters: Kate Loose, Marie Dorn, and Anna Kauffman and four brothers:Dave, Fred, Jake, and Adam Weimer. A Funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at the Christ Congregational Church Interment will follow in the memory Gardens Cemetery.
