Leland R. Porter, 84, former Morgan County resident, passed away Thursday evening at his son's home in Greeley. He was born January 14, 1923, in Wheatland, ND, to Samuel & Ruby Porter. Leland served in the US Army during WW II. On November 1, 1946, he married Goldie Jean Serr in Lexington, NE. Leland fed cattle for the Fort Kearney Feeders and farmed near Kearney, NE for over 50 years. In 1995, Leland & Jean moved to Morgan County to be closer to their Colorado family. Following the death of his wife, Leland lived with his children when his health began to fail. . Survivors include his children, Barbara Brodrick of Shawnee, OK, Ron Porter of Norman, OK, Robert Porter of Corona, CA, Audrey Woods of Omaha, NE, Lowell Porter of Greeley, CO, Wendy James of Omaha, NE, and Bonnelle Pagel of Omaha, NE; and 1 sister, Faith Jay of Minatare, NE; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; 1 infant daughter, Lynnette; 1 grandson, Gerad Pagel; 2 brothers, Lawrence and Walter, 2 sisters, Doris Hamilton, Dorothy Burry, and his parents. A celebration of Leland's life will be Monday at 10:30 AM at the Calvary Chapel 2602 27th Street, Greeley, CO.. . Interment will be in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan at 3:00 PM. . Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Brush on Sunday from 4 – 8 PM.
