Leona Mae Wasson, 76, of Fort Morgan, and formerly of Parker, died unexpectedly Friday, July 13, 2018 after suffering an apparent stroke.

She was born January 18, 1942 in Englewood to Earl & Doreen (Key) Garlow. She grew up in Kansas where she attended school.

Leona married Buddy Wasson on April 1, 1961 in Denver. They lived in the Denver/Parker area until moving to Fort Morgan in 2002.

Leona was a nail tech. in Aurora for 25 years and she also worked as a florist as well as being an Avon Lady, which she was still doing at the time of her death.

Leona enjoyed bowling, playing cards and volunteering at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. Her family was especially important to her and she loved to spend time with them.

She is survived by her husband, Buddy Wasson of Fort Morgan; her two sons, Bruce Wasson of Phoenix, AZ, and Brian Wasson and his wife, Duetta of Parker; her grandchildren, Braden, Shaynna, Bryce, and Josephine; her step grandchildren, Cheyenne and Cody; and two great grandchildren, Oliver and Kennedy. She is also survived her siblings, Earlene Huff and husband, Ron of Denver, Mary of Florida, Geraldine of Yuma, CO, Connie of Akron, CO, Jacklyn and husband, Dan of Lakewood, CO, and Patricia and husband, Kurt of Broken Arrow, OK, 10 nieces and 16 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Sarah, LeRoy, and Carolyn.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 19th from 4 – 6 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel, 225 E. Platte Ave. in Fort Morgan.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 20th at 11:00 AM, also at the chapel.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 21st at the Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabeth, CO.
