LeRoy Windsheimer, 81, of Brush, died late Sunday morning, August 26, 2007 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. Windsheimer was born February 18, 1926 in Gurley, NE to Fred & Helen (Dykman) Windsheimer. During high school he was active in baseball and track. He graduated from Sunol High School in Sunol, NE in 1943. Windsheimer served in the Seabees during WW II and has honorably discharged in 1946. After moving to Colorado, he became active in farming. On December 14, 1952 he married Shirley May Kembel in Fort Morgan. They continued farming in Morgan County until retirement. Mr. Windsheimer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan and the V.F.W. Post # 2551, Fort Morgan. He was a well-known jokester and he enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, and woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Windsheimer of Brush; one son, Les Windsheimer of Brush; 4 daughters, Julie Teter of Brush, Jeanette Schott of Fort Morgan, Sharyl Midcap of Evanston, WY, and Marci Windsheimer of New York. He is also survived by five brothers, Vernon Windsheimer and Keith Windsheimer, both of Fort Morgan, Eugene Windsheimer of Greeley, Ivan Windsheimer of Kalispell, MT, and Myron Windsheimer of Glen Rose, TX; two sisters, Shirley Albert of Hillrose and Alice Reichenburg of Modesto, CA; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond Windsheimer and Kenneth Windsheimer; two sisters, Alzina Leber and Viola Krueger; and one half-sister, Annie. A memorial service will be Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan. Military Honors will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post 2551. Services will conclude at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Society. The Heer Mortuary & Crematory in Brush is in charge of arrangements.
