Obituary

LESTER IRVIN ALWAY, 72, of Fort Morgan, died November 4th in Loveland after a short illness. Lester was born July 3, 1937 in Salida, CO to Lester E. & Alice (Klarenbach) Alway. He graduated from high school in Salida in 1956. He married Kathleen D. Sneddon on December 15, 1956 in San Francisco, CA. Mr. Alway was active duty service in the US Navy from 1956 until 1982. He retired as a Senior Chief Aviation Mechanics' Mate in April of 1982. He later retired to his hometown of Salida where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Mr. & Mrs. Alway moved to the Fort Morgan area in 2001 to be closer to family. He was a lifetime member of the BPOE in Salida and was a member of the V.F.W. He shared his love for his country with his son Curt and his love of jazz music and talent for playing the trumpet with his son Matt. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kay Alway of Fort Morgan; his daughter, Jennifer Templeton (Wes); and his son, Matthew Alway (Amber), all of Fort Morgan; his son, Lester Curtis Alway (Peggy) of Parker; his nephew, Michael Sneddon (Shannon) of Fruita; two sisters, Joan Clark (John) of Salida and Shirley Frees (Delmer) of Moffat; 16 grandchildren and 6 ½ great grandchildren. Memorial services were held Monday, November 9, 2009, at Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan. Memorial gifts may be sent to 815 Walnut, Fort Morgan, CO 80701. .
