Obituary

Letha J. Walz, 94, longtime Brush resident, died Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Eben-Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born June 14, 1917 in Crook to Loyd and Edith (Frese) Stanbary. Letha attended school and graduated from Crook High School in 1937. She married Richard J. Walz on January 16, 1941 in Sidney, Nebraska. They moved to Brush in 1952. Letha worked as a dental assistant for Dr. John Price in Brush and retired from there in 1981. Letha was a very active member of the Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush. She also volunteered at the East Morgan County Hospital Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Bonfils Blood Bank. She loved to dance, play bridge, do crafts and travel. Survivors include one brother, Foster Stanbary and wife Enid of Arvada, sister-in-law, Lydia Walz of Sterling and many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends. Letha is also survived by one very special niece, Betty Giffin of Brush, and her caretaker and friend of many years Dottie Wetzbarger. Letha was preceded in death by her husband Richard, one sister, Marjorie Brown and her parents. Memorial Services will be October 8, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush. Services will conclude at the church. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Sterling. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Eben-Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush or to the charity of one's choice. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Brush is in charge of the cremation arrangements.
