Lillian Ireland Jenik, 99, was born April 22, 1912 on her parents farm north of Essex, Iowa. Her parents were Orrin and Ella Mae (Jackson) Chabot. The family moved to Akron Colorado in the Spring of 1918. Lillian attended school in the county until she went to Washington County High School in Akron, graduating in 1930. She married Elmer Thomas Ireland August 31, 1932. To this union four daughters were born, Hazel Mae Jess, Norma Francis Parachini, Darlene Louise Dunning and Donna Lee Lett. The family moved to Hahns Peak, Colorado to ranch in 1937. From Hahns Peak they moved to Pueblo, Colorado where Elmer worked at the steel mill until his dad bought a farm in Fort Morgan. In 1943 they moved to a farm southwest of Fort Morgan. Elmer Ireland passed away March 29, 1958 in Fort Morgan. Lillian then moved into Fort Morgan and worked at Eakers Department Store and the Farm Bureau Insurance office as a secretary until she married Francis Jenik of Sedgwick, Colorado on September 12, 1964. Mr. Jenik passed away on November 11, 1969. Lillian moved back to Fort Morgan in December, 1970 and worked at Conrads until she retired. While living with her first husband she raised chickens, had a large garden and did a lot of canning fruits, vegetables and meats. She did all the sewing for her daughters and herself, helped with the milking and washing the milking machines. She did a lot of crafts in her later years and crocheted a lot of afghans. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and was active in Sunday school and the women's circle of the church. She was an active member of the South Side Club, the Super Suzie's Club in Sedgwick, the Happy Hour Club and the Riverside Club in Fort Morgan. She was a charter member of 1169 AARP and held several offices. Surviving her are two daughters Hazel Jess ( Edwin) and Darlene Dunning, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, one brother, two husbands and one great grandchild. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 am at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery.
