Obituary

Linda Gaylene (Wyckoff) Blomenkamp, 80, of Brush, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her husband, Gary, and their three children.

Linda was born on September 18, 1946, in Denver, Colorado, to Clifford and Pearl Wyckoff. She grew up on the family farm north of Genoa, Colorado, where she developed a lifelong appreciation for family, hard work, and the simple joys of country living. She attended elementary and middle school in Genoa before attending Woodlin High School, where she graduated in 1964.

Linda met the love of her life, Gary Blomenkamp, through mutual friends, and the two were married in Last Chance, Colorado. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, family, and countless cherished memories. Throughout those years, Linda’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put the needs of those she loved before her own.

As a mother, Linda was always there. Whether helping with classroom parties, volunteering at Woodlin School, traveling with her children for school activities, or cheering them on from the sidelines, she rarely missed an opportunity to be involved. She was their biggest supporter and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her children’s friends quickly became part of the family, as Linda had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. She truly never knew a stranger.

Linda was also involved with the Brush Jaycees, where she enjoyed being part of the community and the friendships that came along with it. One of her favorite Jaycees events was the annual Brush Rodeo on the Fourth of July, a special tradition she looked forward to and enjoyed. Through the Jaycees, Linda and Gary shared many friendships, especially with Don and Glenda Lundgren, who became close, lifelong friends. The memories made through those years and the friendships that lasted a lifetime were truly treasured by Linda.

Linda enjoyed the friendships and laughter that came with her bowling leagues. She especially looked forward to traveling to state bowling tournaments, where the competition was often just as enjoyable as the time spent with good friends. She enjoyed helping on the farm and always seemed to have a creative project or hobby keeping her busy.

Linda also had an incredible love for animals. Throughout her life, her pets held a very special place in her heart. In fact, her family often joked that she might have loved her pets just a little more than her husband and kids! Her four-legged companions were never just pets; they were family, and they were certainly never short on love or attention.

Christmas held a special place in Linda’s heart. She loved decorating for the season, and her treasured Santa Claus collection became one of the many things that made the holidays so special. For Linda, Christmas was about more than decorations. It was another opportunity to bring her family together and create memories that would last a lifetime.

As much as Linda loved being a mother, becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother brought her even more happiness. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and in her eyes, they could do no wrong. Each held a special place in her heart, and nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with them, watching them grow, and sharing in their lives.

Those who knew Linda will remember her warm smile, her caring heart, and her genuine kindness toward everyone she met. She had a way of making people feel comfortable, accepted, and loved. Her dedication to her family never wavered, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through the generations of family she leaves behind.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Gary Blomenkamp; her three children, Kandis Compton (Dave), Bobbie Mesmer (Dean), and Gale Blomenkamp (Becky); her ten grandchildren, Kindra, CJ, Kaley, Kiana, Coleton, Kyle, Michael, Dustin, Krista, and Bo, and their significant others; as well as eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Reggie Wyckoff, of whom she was so proud, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Pearl Wyckoff; her parents-in-law, Augie and Lena Blomenkamp, the best parents that didn’t have to be; and her sister-in-law, Robbie Wyckoff.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Brush United Methodist Church, 1701 Edmunds Street, Brush, Colorado. Burial will follow at Brush Memorial Cemetery, 1100 Mill Street, Brush, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome cards sharing favorite memories and stories of Linda. These remembrances will be treasured by her family and will help keep her memory alive for generations to come.

The Blomenkamp family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has offered love, prayers, kindness, and support during this difficult time. A very special thank you goes to Judit Beltran and caregiver Jessica Cox. Their compassion, dedication, and loving care helped make it possible for Linda to remain in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. For that, her family will be forever grateful.

Linda’s life was one of love, kindness, and devotion to family. Though she will be deeply missed, her beautiful smile, generous heart, and the countless memories she created will remain with those who loved her forever.
