Linda Jean Iungerich, 71, passed away Monday at her home in Fort Morgan after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Linda was born November 11, 1936, in Fort Morgan to C. D. "Curly" and Ruth (Gordon) Garver. She graduated from FMHS in 1955. Following graduation, she worked for The Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company during the dial conversion. Linda married Carl D. Iungerich, November 11, 1955 in Raton, New Mexico and they made their home in Fort Morgan. Following the birth of their children she was a domestic engineer. Linda was active in the Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and Elder. She volunteered many hours of her time for her children's schools, the United Way, 27 years on the Board of the Morgan County Cancer Society, Morgan County RE 3 Accountability Committee, two terms as President of the Morgan County Farmers Union, and two social ladies clubs- the Kensington Klatter Klub and Riverside Club. Linda was also a board member of the Fort Morgan Heritage Foundation, serving as secretary and vice-president and on the endowment committee. Next to her family Linda loved gardening, reading, and the holidays. She was a devoted and proud Democrat. Linda was a long-time Chair of the Morgan County Democrats and throughout the years served in all the officer positions, taking on the Treasurer position even as her health was failing. She had also been a candidate for Morgan County Commissioner District Two. During her political life, Linda was a Charter member of Morgan County Big Ten Democratic Organization, a member of the Century Club, the Democratic National Committee, Democrats for America's Future, and a member of the Morgan County Jane Jefferson's serving as president numerous times. She was also Past-President of the State Federation of Democratic Women and National League of Women Voters among various other historical foundations. She strongly supported the County Sheriffs of Colorado, Fort Morgan Museum, Progressive 15, MADD, and local 4-H, & FFA organizations. Linda was a member of the Morgan County Bowling Association for 44 years until ill health forced her retirement from the sport she truly enjoyed. She served as President of the Woodpecker Bowling League in 2005-2006 where she had many friends. She is survived by one son, Tyler Iungerich and his wife Suzi of Loveland, daughter, Lynda K. Crone and her husband Jim of Fort Morgan; seven grandchildren, Jay (and Meghan) Iungerich, Chantil (and Geoff) Taylor, Cristen Iungerich, Jared Iungerich, Kirk, Kaylyn and Ryan Crone; one great grandson Gavin Taylor; one brother, Clifford D. Garver Jr. and his wife Pat; Sisters-in-law Dorothy Garver Smart of Fort Morgan and Thelma (Barthlama) Riggs of Billings, MT; Brother-in-law Bill Johnson of Darrouzett, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl D. Iungerich, first born son; Carl Jr., parents, brother; Gordon Garver and sister; Lou Anne Johnson. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30am at the United Presbyterian Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Linda asked for memorials to be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado or the United Presbyterian Church.
