Lois Fithian, resident of Fort Morgan for 55 years, died February 16 at the age of 87 at her residence in Lakewood. Lois was born February 22, 1930, in Wichita, Kansas to Clarence and Josephine Kitchen. Her family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, when she was 15.

Lois married Chester Fithian May 1, 1949, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church with many friends. Chester died in 2004.

Lois worked in the Recording Department of the Morgan County Clerk's office from 1970-1994. She was active in the Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She managed Safeway gift card sales for 16 years and maintained the UMW scrapbook for almost 20 years. She also led a UMW Bible Study. Lois taught first grade Sunday school for a number of years, led a Girl Scout troop, and was a 4H leader. She also taught dressmaking for a Fort Morgan fabric shop.

Lois was a creative person and sewed many clothing items for her four children and their dolls. She enjoyed crocheting and made over 150 afghans for family and friends. Lois moved to the Denver area to be close to family and continued to crochet, donating many afghans and baby blankets for charity. She took photos of each afghan she made and documented who received them.

Survivors include her children, Clarissa Crozier (Mike) of Littleton; Melody Buxton (Ray) of Golden; Pamela Fithian of Highlands Ranch; and Wayne Fithian of Elkhorn, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jesse; her husband, Chester Fithian; her grandson, Shawn Fithian; and her great granddaughter, Shiloh Steenburgen.
