Obituary

Lonnie "Nick" was born in Denver Colorado on October 16, 1942, to Clyde and Pearlie Kallsen. He was
the oldest of 4 siblings. Nick grew up in Brighton Colorado and attended Brighton High School and was
part of the class of 1960. In 1964 he enlisted into the army for two years and married the love of his
life Gloria Kathrine on April 4, 1966, in Fort Hood Texas, the day before he was to be discharged from
the Army. They came back to Colorado to start their married life together and settled in Brighton. A
year later they welcomed their daughter Tonya. As she was growing up, Nick held several jobs, he was
a farmer and rancher by day but to bring in extra cash he worked night shifts at the old Brighton Sugar
Factory for a time and was a Deputy with the Brighton Police Department. In his spare time, he liked
to ride bucking bulls and ride bareback horses. He traveled with the rodeo for a time but decided he
should stay close to home for his wife Gloria and daughter Tonya.

In 1976 Nick's sister and brother in-law, Bonnie and Dale Arnold had a son who died as an infant. At
the time, they didn't have any health insurance for him, so they decided on a BBQ fundraiser to pay for
the medical bills. The following year, the Kallsen family realized there were so many more families out
there that needed help paying their bills. That was to be the beginning of "The Kallsen's Benefit BBQ
for Children's Hospital". They continued to have this BBQ for 11 years raising money for families in
need, until the time they moved away to Weldona, Colorado.

In May of 1980 Gloria gave birth to a son, Terry Kallsen. He was 12 years younger than his sister, a
miracle for them, because they were told that they wouldn't have any more children. They stayed in
Brighton Colorado until Tonya graduated from high school in 1986 before moving to Weldona,
Colorado. They wanted to get back to the country's quiet life, it was getting too crowded and busy in
Brighton. For the next 28 years Nick and Gloria lived in Weldona, Goodrich, Ft. Morgan and Woodrow
Colorado. While living in Ft. Morgan and Woodrow, Nick convinced Gloria to allow him to fulfill one of
his dreams of raising bucking bulls capable of making it to the PBR finals. He worked hard raising the
best bloodlines known as Kallsen's Wildcat Bucking Bulls. He was able to see that dream come true
with Wildcat Blaine, named after his grandson. Wildcat Blaine made it to the PBR Finals in 2006.
As the years went by it became harder on Nick and Gloria to do the day-to-day tasks of taking care of
the cattle and ranch so they decided to move to Gill, Colorado in 2015 to retire and be closer to their
two grandsons, Blaine Kallsen and Dustin Griess. His wife Gloria died on October 15, 2017, and for the
remainder of his days he was surrounded by his family and friends until he passed away on December
04, 2021.

He is survived by his Sister Bonnie Arnold (Dale). Daughter Tonya Griess (Gordon), Son Terry Kallsen
(Janette). Grandson's Blaine Kallsen (Taylor), Dustin Griess, Dominick and Jesse Gifford. Great
Grandbaby to-be. Sister In-Law Jannyce Bennett, Nieces/Nephews Troy Bennett, Troy Arnold (Tammy),
